PBL

Coping with Practical Problems of Real Society

The course is performed in spirals over 1st Semester of the 1st-year(PBL1), 2nd Semester of the 1st-year (PBL2), and 1st Semester of the 2nd-year (PBL3), of master course. In PBL1, learning basic skills such as software development and project management is anticipated. In PBL2 and PBL3, practical problems assigned by teachers from industries or universities are dealt with. Basically, 4-6 students form one group.

Details about PBL Achievements

PBL1

To conduct deep technology drilling, to reach to a creative level in communication and team-working skills

Purposes and Basic Policies

Learning project management (PM) skills.
Learning PM skills by utilizing fixe-form format and experiencing basic PM.
Learning basic software development skills.
Learning basic skills that are necessary for conducting software development such as development languages (Java, C++ etc.), development environment (Eclipse etc.), and modeling languages (UML etc.), etc.
Basic operation policies
Lectures such as “Logical Thinking” etc. are introduced, extensive skills could be learned.

PBL2&3

To cope with practical problems assigned by teachers from industries or universities, and to strengthen problem solving abilities.

Purposes and Basic Policies

Learning autonomy engine/team-work ability
Reaching to a creative level in communication and team-working skills.
Learning domain knowledge/technology or system development skills
Conducting deep-drilling of technologies as an individual, and furthermore, as a group.
Basic operating policies
M1 and M2 groups are paired together, by which M2 could provide to M1 with advices of PM and technologies (UML etc.).
Autonomy, communication ability, problem solving speed etc. are measured.
